ABOUT US
Greater Things Counseling and Healing was founded by Richard L. Alford Jr. Our vision is to provide a service to the community incorporating timeless biblical principles. We are passionate about seeing people set free from any and all illnesses whether mental or physical. Our vision also includes a desire to love and serve in the same fashion as Jesus served during his time here on Earth. Therefore, Greater Things Counseling and Healing was inspired by the verse in John 14:12 that says “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, anyone who believes in Me [as Savior] will also do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these [in extent and outreach], because I am going to the Father.”

Personal
For a total of fourteen months beginning in November of 1995, I had the opportunity to work at Shoreline Inc. with adolescents and their families in a residential treatment center where children were assisted with their education, their behavior, and their clinical issues. At Family Counseling Service, the Director of Professional Services Pam Parsons LMSW-ACP, LMFT, supervised my work for four years. At Family Counseling Service, I provided individual therapy, family therapy, play therapy, home-based therapy, and psycho-educational groups to families involved with The Department of Protective and Regulatory Services and for fee paying clients in the office. In addition, I have been a co-therapist for a juvenile sex offender group at the Nueces County Juvenile Justice Center for two years. As an employee of the City of Corpus Christi with the Juvenile Assessment Center, I provided prevention and intervention services to families and youth of the community as a case manager. Therefore, I am familiar with the issues and concerns of families in our community and the surrounding areas. Lastly, for a total of 23 years, I have provided individual and family therapy, anger management, and parenting classes for the department of Family and Protective Services in the surrounding Coastal Bend Area.
